Reporting user training is for either new Consumer users or Report Authors and is available through online self-paced training modules and recordings of instructor-led trainings.
Power BI Consumer Training: Online Self-Paced and Pre-Recorded Training
For Power BI Consumer users, the online self-paced training module paired with pre-recorded instructor-led training provides a background on Power BI concepts, navigating the Power BI Service, setting up report subscriptions, exporting data from reports, and how to use both paginated and interactive reports.
The online self-paced module is available on the USA Staffing Online Training Portal. Follow the instructions in the Accessing the Virtual Power BI Consumer Training document to navigate to and self-register for these modules.
- Power BI Consumer Training: Learn how to access reports, navigate the Power BI Service, and understand key concepts and basic functionality. (1 – 2 hours to complete)
The online instructor-led training is approximately 2 hours long. Registration is required for this training via USA Staffing Account Managers and is completed on a first come, first served basis. Users who have not taken the training before will be prioritized and those who have taken it before will be waitlisted until meeting information for the training is sent 1-2 weeks in advance of the training date. Additionally, users should verify that they have the ability to access USA Staffing's Power BI environment prior to the training to minimize time spend troubleshooting access issues during the training. For Power BI report authors, online self-paced training modules paired with pre-recorded instructor-led trainings introduce users to the powerful new features of Power BI. These sessions are aimed at providing Authors with the expertise needed to effectively create, manage, and share reports in Power BI, and empowering users to work more efficiently and with greater flexibility. - Module 1 – Power BI Authoring: Concepts and Architecture: Understand the core concepts and structure of Power BI to navigate the platform effectively, avoid common pitfalls, and create better, more shareable reports. (30 – 40 minutes to complete.)
- Module 2 – Power BI Authoring: Paginated Report Editor Basics: Quickly create and customize paginated reports in the Power BI Service Report Builder, enabling you to adjust without needing advanced tools or skills. (30 – 40 minutes to complete.)
- Module 3 – Power BI Authoring: Report Builder Basics: Gain the skills to design and customize more complex paginated reports, improving your ability to meet advanced reporting requirements. (1 - 2 hours to complete.)
- Module 4 – Power BI Authoring: Report Builder Advanced - Parameters: Learn how to create custom parameters using Power BI Report Builder. (1-2 hours to complete.)
- Module 5 – Power BI Desktop Basics & Standalone Semantic Models: Build essential skills with Power BI Desktop and learn how to leverage newly released standalone semantic models and report templates to create effective, data-driven reports. (1 - 2 hours to complete)
