The Federal Internship Portal is a new internship opportunities page on USAJOBS: intern.usajobs.gov. This page will serve as a one-stop shop for internship postings across the Federal government, allowing prospective interns to easily find opportunities at any agency.
Agencies will use the same process they use today to post internships to USAJOBS by selecting the Internships Appointment Type and the Student Hiring Path when building the vacancy announcement in USA Staffing. The following steps are required to ensure the announcement is posted to the internship page:
- On the Announcement Information page, in the Appointment Type drop-down list, select Internships. Although multiple Appointment Types can be selected in USA Staffing, for the job to appear in the Internship Portal, please only choose Internship from the list of available Appointment Types.
- On the same page, from the Hiring Paths drop-down list, choose Students, as well as any other hiring paths, as appropriate. You must choose the Students hiring path for the job to appear in the Internship Portal.
- If your announcement has already been released, you will need to update USAJOBS for your changes to be reflected.
- Navigate to the any page of the Announcement in USA Staffing and select Release on the top menu. Select Update to USAJOBS.
